What is a wide calf boot?

A wide calf boot is shaped with generous circumference through the shaft, so it rests naturally against a fuller calf rather than gapping at the ankle or straining at the top. Fontleroy boots begin with this shape as the founding idea, not a correction made after the fact. Every pattern is drawn for the wide calf from the very first line.

How do I know my calf size for boots?

Sit and bend the knee to a 90 degree angle. Wrap a soft measuring tape around the fullest part of the calf and note the measurement in inches. This number is your calf circumference, the figure to hold against each collection's fit.

Do Fontleroy boots run true to size?

Yes. Fontleroy boots hold true to size in length. We recommend your standard US shoe size, and sizing up if you fall between sizes.

What calf size does the Autograph Collection fit?

The Autograph Collection is built for an 18 inch calf circumference. Every style within it carries this measurement by design, never by alteration.

What calf size does the Prelude Collection fit?

The Prelude Collection is built for a 19 inch calf circumference, designed from the first pattern. Prelude arrives November 26.

What is the heel height?

Every style in the Autograph Collection has a 3.75 inch heel.

What are Fontleroy boots made of?

Charlotte, Savannah, Aspen, and Santa Rosa are handcrafted in full grain leather. Bristol, with its navy metallic finish, is crafted in genuine metallic leather. Every pair is made in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, a region carrying generations of leathercraft heritage.

How is Fontleroy different from other wide calf boot brands?

Traditional knee high boots are built around a standard calf circumference of 13 to 15 inches. For a fuller calf, that leaves two choices: force the fit, or give up on the style altogether. Most wide calf boots on the market start from that same narrow pattern and get widened after the fact, an adjustment layered onto a shape that was never built for her. Fontleroy exists to close that gap. The wide calf itself is the starting measurement, the design brief every pattern is drawn from. The fit is the platform. The styles are the catalog.

What if my calf or shoe size isn't offered yet?

If your calf measures over 19 inches, or you wear a half size or a size outside our current range, join the waitlist. You will be the first to know when your fit arrives, and every note shapes the collections that follow.

Where is Fontleroy located?

Fontleroy is a direct to consumer luxury boot house based in Colorado. Each pair is handcrafted in León, Guanajuato, Mexico and shipped directly to the woman who ordered it. Fontleroy is not sold through retail stores.

Where do you ship?

We currently ship within the United States. Orders are prepared and shipped within 1 to 3 business days, standard delivery arrives 5 to 8 business days after shipping, and every US order ships free.

Does Fontleroy offer returns?

Yes. Unworn boots in original packaging are eligible for a full refund, less a 20% restocking fee, when the return is requested within 30 days of purchase and postmarked within 14 days of delivery. Exchanges are free and return shipping is on us. Refunds are issued within 3 business days of your return passing inspection. Full details live on our Refund Policy page.
