Caring for Your Fontleroy Boots

Genuine calfskin is a natural material that rewards proper care. With the right attention, your Fontleroy boots will break in beautifully and last for years.

Daily Care

After each wear, wipe your boots with a soft dry cloth to remove dust and surface dirt. Allow them to air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight.

Never dry your boots near a radiator, fireplace, or in direct sunlight. Excessive heat causes calfskin to crack and lose its natural oils.

Conditioning

Calfskin leather needs moisture to stay supple. Apply a quality leather conditioner every 4–6 weeks, or any time the leather begins to look dry. Use a soft cloth and work in small circular motions. Allow to absorb fully before wearing.

Cleaning

For surface marks, use a damp cloth and a small amount of leather cleaner. Always test on a hidden area first. For deeper cleaning, we recommend taking your boots to a professional leather cleaner.

Storage

Store your boots upright using boot shapers or rolled towels to maintain the shaft shape. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If storing long term, place them in our breathable dust bag — never plastic.

Metallic & Embroidered Styles

For boots with metallic finishes or embroidery (Bristol, Savannah, Santa Rosa, Charlotte) avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Use a soft dry cloth only on embroidered areas. A specialist leather cleaner is recommended for metallic finishes.
